If you are an AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia (DC) Healthy DC Plan enrollee and you become pregnant, we are here to help support you.

You should call AmeriHealth Caritas DC Enrollee Services at 1-844-214-2470 (TTY 711) to let us know you are pregnant as soon as possible. Pregnant individuals will be transitioned to Medicaid, which means your benefits will then transition to be covered under Medicaid.

Once you are enrolled in Medicaid, you can join Bright Start^® (PDF).

Bright Start is a maternity care program that helps pregnant enrollees make healthy choices for themselves and their babies. The program is designed to support you throughout your pregnancy and after you give birth. When you join Bright Start, a Care Manager will call you and work with you to help you receive and use program services. If your pregnancy is high risk, a team of nurses and Care Connectors will check in with you often to help you stay connected to care during your pregnancy.

Bright Start can help you:

• Find an OB/GYN, midwife, or doula.
• Schedule transportation to and from your appointments.
• Get diapers, a car seat, a breast pump, and other supplies.
• Find breastfeeding support and childbirth classes.
• Create a birth plan.
• Sign up for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
• Sign up for home-delivered meals and other nutrition programs.
